A Washington resident filed a class-action lawsuit against Twitter claiming it violates state law by procuring users’ phone numbers for targeted advertising, MediaPost reports. Darlin Gray alleged she provided her phone number to Twitter with “fraudulent” assurances “she could designate the uses to which the telephone number was put and thereby maintain control over the use.” The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is separately investigating Twitter’s potential misuse of phone numbers to serve ads.
