A lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California accuses Facebook’s photo-sharing app Instagram of illegally harvesting users’ biometric data, Bloomberg reports. The suit claims the company violates the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, collecting, storing and profiting from its more than 100 million users’ biometric data without their knowledge or consent. Meanwhile, consumer advocacy group Consumer Watchdog is suing Zoom Video Communications over data privacy and security concerns, claiming the video-conferencing platform falsely claimed use of “end-to-end encryption.”
