U.S. House Democratic lawmakers want to know why Customs and Border Protection’s Biometric Exit Program includes data collected from U.S. citizens, FedScoop reports. The purpose of the program is to track when non-citizens arrive and depart from the country. Currently, U.S. citizens can opt out of the program, which is used in 17 airports, but lawmakers say the ability to opt out of the program isn’t enough. “The random nature of this pilot does not allow travelers the requisite advanced notice to make an informed decision on their willingness to participate,” lawmakers said in a letter to the CBP.
