Federal and state lawmakers from California wrote to the state's Department of Motor Vehicles seeking answers regarding its data privacy and security practices in relation to alleged third-party data disclosures. U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., headed up a group of 10 other lawmakers who asked eight questions about the DMV's data practices, including those related to personal data and databases of driver's photos. The lawmakers said the potential "bulk disclosure of large quantities of data with little oversight is troubling."
