The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union has released a new draft compromise proposal for the ePrivacy Regulation ahead of the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society meeting Oct. 22. The latest draft includes clarifications on the processing of communications data by “end-users and third parties on their behalf to ensure network and information security” and “data for internal communication purposes or in closed group networks.” Modifications have also been included to ensure the ePrivacy Regulation would not apply to national security and defense activities.
