The Personal Data Protection Commission hosted the 45th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities Forum last month in Singapore, covering a variety of topics affecting the Asia-Pacific region. Themes covered during the conference included “facilitating compliance, legislative reforms, technology developments on data protection and privacy, and education and outreach efforts.” The conference also featured updates on data breaches, the General Data Protection Regulation, Privacy Shield, and the APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules. The forum also recognized Elizabeth Denham assuming her new position in the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office, and Lee Hong-Sub taking over as chairman of the Korea Personal Information Protection Commission.
