An unprotected Elasticsearch database exposed more than 5 billion records containing data related to security incidents over the past seven years, SC Media reports. Security researcher Bob Diachenko discovered the unprotected “data breach database,” which included passwords, email addresses and data related to “prominent” leaks. Bitglass Chief Technology Officer Anurag Kahol called the breach “one of the biggest to date.” Editor's note: The original article identified the database belonged to Keepnet Labs. It has since been updated to state the database is managed by a U.K.-based security firm.
