U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh has ruled Yahoo must face the lawsuits stemming from the 2013 data breaches affecting all 3 billion of its users, Reuters reports. Koh ruled in favor of the plaintiffs after they amended their complaint, stating security played an important role in their decision to use Yahoo. “Plaintiffs’ allegations are sufficient to show that they would have behaved differently had defendants disclosed the security weaknesses of the Yahoo Mail System,” Koh wrote. With the allegations Yahoo did not do an adequate job in addressing security concerns it was aware of, Koh said the plaintiffs can attempt to show how the tech company’s terms of service were insufficient.
