The Joint Parliamentary Committee reviewing India's Personal Data Protection Bill is expected to adopt its long-awaited final report Nov. 22, The Economic Times reports. The JPC was initially expected to adopt the report Nov. 12, but was unable to do so after additional amendments were proposed. Among the new proposals is an amended fine scheme that would decrease the fixed percentage of global income that dictates the severity of a given penalty. Sources with knowledge of the meeting said several JPC members oppose decreased fines.
