According to The Indian Express, the Joint Parliamentary Committee reviewing India's draft Personal Data Protection Bill will likely reconvene Oct. 20 and consider amendments, including expanding provisions to cover non-personal data. One official involved with the JPC review said the coverage of non-personal data in the bill aims to create "a bigger umbrella" to start with, adding such provisions would be "the basis of the recommendations of the Ministry committee." The JPC's next meeting will also consider amendments to proposed exemptions for anonymized data under the law.
