Originally published in the iappANZ’s Privacy Unbound, New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards reflects on the changes and challenges of the privacy profession since the country’s Privacy Act was enacted 25 years ago. He writes that the internet has grown to an unimaginable degree since the passing of New Zealand’s Privacy Act. Edwards writes, “While the privacy concerns of the 1990s have grown and diversified into a multitude of challenges, it’s an encouraging sign there’s been an even further awakening in this digital age of privacy awareness among the public and organisations that hold their information.” Editor’s Note: Find the full list of Privacy Unbound archives in the IAPP’s Resource Center.
