Vice reports documents reveal agreements between U.S. Customs and Border Protection and JetBlue for facial recognition at boarding. A memorandum of understanding between the parties said the airline “intends to capture each traveler’s photo, in accordance with CBP’s specifications, during the boarding process” for mutually identified flights to “build a biometric gallery of facial images, obtained through various DHS databases.” The biometric boarding is opt-out, and JetBlue Manager of Corporate Communications Derek Dombrowski said more than 90% of customers participate when available.
