Japan's government is investigating Line over reports it let Chinese engineers access users’ data without notice, Reuters reports. A government official said it is unclear whether the messaging application breached Japanese privacy regulations, which require companies to notify users when their personal data is sent overseas. In a statement, Line apologized for not properly explaining data management policies. A spokesman said the company has not “breached legal or regulatory boundaries.”
