Booz Allen Hamilton announced this week that James H. Koenig, CIPP/US, most recently of PricewaterhouseCoopers, will join the firm as a principal to lead its cross-industry privacy and identity theft practice, as well as cybersecurity for its commercial health business. The move is effective September 30, and Koenig will be based in Philadelphia, PA, with global responsibilities, according to a press release.

While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Koenig led the privacy and identity theft practice and was co-leader of the firm’s health information privacy and security practice. He is a co-founder of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and is an “authority on security and privacy issues across industries including healthcare, telecommunications, Internet, financial services, retail and manufacturing.”

Koenig has served in business, technology and legal positions at QVC, MaMaMedia.com and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, and designed compliance, data analytics and business solutions on high-profile Federal Trade Commission, Health and Human Services/Office for Civil Rights and international enforcements involving social media, mobile and healthcare companies. He has also been a member of the Educational Advisory Board for the IAPP and a member of the Privacy Council for the Direct Marketing Association. He is also an inventor or co-inventor on six patents and patent applications relating to security and privacy-enhancing technologies.
