The Identity Theft Resource Center said 2020 is on track to see the lowest number of data breaches and data exposures since 2015. Though COVID-19-related scams have increased, the number of data breaches in the first six months of the year dropped by nearly 33% compared to 2019. The number of individuals impacted by breaches also declined by 66%. While these statistics are good news overall, the center said the lower number of breaches may only be temporary.
