The Italian data protection authority, the Garante, is seeking guidance from the European Data Protection Board on whether an Italian company can serve as an intermediary between owners and interested parties requesting personal information held by businesses and then merging the information into its own database for "enrichment" purposes. In the letter to the EDPB Chairwoman Andrea Jelinek, Garante President Antonello Soro wrote that although the issue has been brought to Italy, it "requires a general discussion that should involve more than just one single data protection authority."
