Italy’s data protection authority, the Garante, issued a 600,000 euro fine to an unnamed banking institution following a 2017 data breach that compromised the personal data of more than 700,000 customers. The DPA said the bank failed to adopt adequate technical and organizational measures to safeguard data. It also said the fact that violations were committed against a “significant number of people” was taken into consideration in issuing the fine. (Original article is in Italian.)
