Haaretz reports Israeli law enforcement has supported a bill allowing facial recognition technology in public spaces. The draft law would enable face matching with a police database and data sharing between agencies. The proposal also indicated data protection measures will be in place but does not contain rules for limits on data storage and sharing. Association for Civil Rights Attorney Anne Suciu said the proposal is "a huge threat" to privacy and seeks to "conduct mass surveillance of citizens."
