The Israeli military is using a facial recognition network of cameras and smartphones to surveil and identify Palestinians in the West Bank, the Washington Post reports. The network relies on a database of personal information, including photographs taken by Israeli soldiers, to identify individuals in real time and alert them if an individual should be "detained, arrested or left alone." The database reportedly contains images of every Palestinian in the West Bank.
