Buzzfeed News reports that a security researcher discovered two vulnerabilities on Comcast Xfinity’s login page that exposed personal details for more than 26.5 million customers. The flaws were said to expose customers’ partial home addresses and Social Security numbers, making it easy for hackers to access sensitive information without a sophisticated attack. A spokesperson for the company said, “We quickly investigated these issues and within hours we blocked both vulnerabilities, eliminating the ability to conduct the actions described by these researchers.” While a review is ongoing, the spokesperson added, “we have no reason to believe these vulnerabilities were ever used against Comcast customers outside of the research described in this report.”
