Gizmodo reports the Internal Revenue Service later this year will require tax filers to send biometric data to a third-party identity verification company to access online accounts. An IRS spokesperson said users will need to provide a government identification document, a selfie and copies of bills to ID.me to confirm identity when accessing an account. The IRS says individuals can still file and pay taxes without creating or logging into an account or providing biometric data.
