The Supreme Court of Ireland has set Dec. 19 as the date it plans to hear Facebook’s appeal of a Court of Justice of the European Union referral on the validity of EU-U.S. data transfer channels, The Irish Times reports. The Supreme Court aims to decide whether Facebook has the right to appeal the referral. Justice Mary Finlay Geoghegan told the tech company it needs to list out the issues it wants the court to determine and the orders Facebook has sought out. Facebook maintains the High Court ruled incorrectly in regards to U.S. law and surveillance practices and added the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement means there is no requirement for a CJEU referral.
