The Irish Data Protection Commission has launched its investigation into Facebook’s recent data breach, Reuters reports. The DPC said in a statement the inquiry will touch upon whether Facebook met its compliance requirements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, such as having the proper “technical and organizational measures to ensure the security and safeguarding of the personal data it processes.” The Wall Street Journal reports Facebook spoke with officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and lawmakers about the breach and is expected to meet with other congressional committees, potentially as early as this week. Meanwhile, Facebook has extended the deletion grace period for users to eliminate their accounts from 14 to 30 days.
