Ireland’s data protection authority, the Data Protection Commission, published guidance on processing employees’ COVID-19 vaccination data, addressing the collection of employee vaccination status by employers. “The processing of vaccine data is likely to represent unnecessary and excessive data collection for which no clear legal basis exists,” it said. The DPC notes the necessity of employee data processing related to vaccines is unclear because of the nature of Ireland's vaccination program and the lack of control individuals have over their ability to get the vaccine.
