Apple has been notifying users they are possibly being tracked by unknown AirTags even when not being followed, The Wall Street Journal reports. To prevent AirTag stalking, Apple developed a tool that notifies iPhone users if they are being followed with another user's AirTags. However, in recent weeks, iPhone users have been receiving alerts at all hours that they are being tracked by unknown AirTags. Compared with actual incidents of AirTag stalking, the “phantom” alerts appeared to be the result of a bug.
