Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta Jill Clayton has found the Calgary Remand Centre and Alberta Justice violated sections of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act by improperly deleting records despite an inmate’s information request, CBC News reports. “There’s a lack of oversight, I think. Definitely some issues around training, in particular that records must be preserved,” said Clayton, who has given the correctional facility and justice department a list of areas for improvement and asked that steps be taken to ensure records are preserved in the future. She will follow up in six months.
