The British government tasked Investigatory Powers Commissioner Brian Leveson with overseeing the U.K.-U.S. Data Access Agreement. Leveson will provide independent oversight into how the U.K. uses the agreement, which allows British authorities to request data from U.S. telecommunication providers for law enforcement investigations via a warrant. Meanwhile, the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, fined Bureau Krediet Registration 830,000 euros for violating the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
