Intel released a paper titled “Protecting Individuals’ Privacy and Data in the Artificial Intelligence World” during the 40th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners. As tech companies use automation to make decisions in real time, Intel released its observations about what that could mean for privacy. The company states increased automation should not result in fewer privacy protections, and companies should place a focus on transparency with its algorithms. Intel offered six policy recommendations for privacy and artificial intelligence, such as new comprehensive legislative and regulatory initiatives that are tech neutral and support the free flow of data and an emphasis on risk-based accountability approaches.
