Intel has acquired BASIS Science, a company specializing in wearable device technologies, particularly in the health and fitness arena. Intel has its sights set on accelerating wearable technology innovation, according to a press release, and the acquisition gives it access to the new technology. Intel aims to create wearable reference devices “focused on fit, function and style,” the company has announced. “As we accelerate our position in wearables, we will build upon this foundation to deliver products that bring people greater utility and value,” said Intel’s Mike Bell.
