In a submission before the Ontario government on private sector privacy, the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association said levels of government must coordinate privacy regulations, Advisor’s Edge reports. Doing so “is crucial for ensuring that people can protect and have control of their personal information while also creating a competitive business environment,” the industry group said. Businesses having to learn and adapt to provincial rules is “burdensome” and further complicates an “inefficient patchwork of privacy legislation,” the group said.
