Instagram said the recent and widely circulated post claiming the platform changed its privacy policy is false, CBS News reports. The post stated, “Don’t forget tomorrow starts the new Instagram rule where they can use your photos. Don’t forget Deadline today!” The announcement fooled a number of celebrities, as well as government officials. A similar Facebook hoax was discredited in 2012. While Instagram does not own the content users post, it does request user permission to use content for the “purposes of providing and improving products.”
