The Wall Street Journal reports on China's efforts to regulate the information collected by technology companies. According to official documents, the Chinese government called on Tencent, Alibaba, ByteDance and other tech companies to open up the data they collect. China's recently passed data security law will also make it harder for tech companies to turn down requests made by the government.
