A group of 25 industry professionals in academics, civil rights, politics and journalism formed the Real Facebook Oversight Board to analyze and critique Facebook’s content moderation decisions and policies, NBC News reports. The group will meet for the first time Oct. 1 via Facebook Live. Facebook is working to create its own oversight board. Meanwhile, U.S. Federal Trade Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter wants to make the commission’s antitrust enforcement antiracist, which includes a conversation around data privacy.
