Indonesia’s draft Law on Personal Data Protection shows the government’s “commitment to the strengthening of personal data protection in Indonesia in the public interest,” Dentons Partner Andre Rahadian and Senior Associate Mika Isac Kriyasa write in a blog post. Currently under discussion in the House of Representatives, they said the draft, which aims to ensure adequate protection of personal data, “will offer clarity on personal data protection in Indonesia, as one of the world’s most avid users of digital technology, particularly in the e-commerce sector.”
