Citing the information was shared “in confidence,” Indian officials refused to fulfill an RTI query filed by news agency PTI, which had requested that they share Facebook’s response about Cambridge Analytica and the data breach involving millions of users, BloombergQuint reports. India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, “They have requested to treat the information contained in their letter as confidential and have furnished (it) only for use of authority.” The response follows a tweet from Christopher Wylie, who claimed Cambridge Analytica parent company SCL India worked in India dating back to 2003. Wylie alleges SCL was asked to provide research and strategy for the 2010 Bihar elections for the Janata Dal (United), a claim they reject.
