The ruling relates to a USD17 billion class-action lawsuit brought against fast-food chain White Castle over employee biometric time clock scans. While the majority of justices supported claims accruing each time nonconsensual biometric information is collected, their opinion argued against litigation that has the potential to bankrupt a given business.
