The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office plans to host a forum March 6 with members of the advertising technology industry. ICO Executive Director for Technology Policy and Innovation Simon McDougall, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, writes in a blog post while the agency has kept an eye on different aspects of ad tech, it currently has placed a focus on “programmatic advertising and real-time bidding.” McDougall writes the ICO has also received complaints that allege ad tech firms have violated the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The forum aims to tackle three key areas of interest the ICO has found through conversations with members of the ad tech industry, including transparency requirements, the lawful basis for processing personal data, and the secure transfers of information.
