Results of a compulsory audit of the Department for Education conducted by the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office found data protection was not prioritized, impacting the department’s ability to comply with data protection laws. The ICO said the department accepted the 139 recommendations for improvement, of which more than 60% were classified as urgent or high priority. The ICO will continue to monitor the department and said enforcement action will be imposed if improvement schedules are not followed.
