The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office offered an update into its investigation on the advertising technology industry. ICO Executive Director of Technology and Innovation Simon McDougall wrote in a blog post the agency is pleased with how the industry has responded to its warnings. McDougall pointed to the Internet Advertising Bureau UK's development of adtech principals and Google's decision to phase out third-party cookies as examples of positive momentum on adtech concerns. He added, however, that other companies "appear to have their heads firmly in the sand. It is now clear to us that engagement alone will not address all these issues."
