The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office held an advertising technology “fact-finding forum” in which it provided an update to its investigations into the adtech industry, Digiday reports. Since it released its initial report in June, ICO Executive Director for Technology Policy and Innovation Simon McDougall said the agency found evidence of vendors processing special categories of data, which is a violation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The ICO also covered the over-reliance on contracts and user consent. McDougall added the ICO will publish another update on the adtech industry Dec. 20 and will likely begin enforcement actions next year.
