For the second straight year, the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office will be funding solutions and research tackling privacy and data protection issues. Proposals awarded a grant could earn anywhere from 20,000 to 100,000 GBP. The ICO is looking for privacy-by-design and accountability solutions focused on several areas, including artificial intelligence and big data, biometrics, children’s privacy, blockchain, online advertising, and compliance solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses. “The introduction of the GDPR and the new Data Protection Act 2018, along with high-profile cases and incidents, have meant that privacy issues and concerns about how people’s personal information is used have probably never been more prominent,” Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said.
