The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office has fined Marriott International 18.4 million GBP for violations of the EU General Data Protection Regulation related to its 2018 data breach. The ICO found Marriott did not implement proper technical and organizational measures to protect personal data processed in their systems. The penalties and actions against Marriott have been approved by the other EU data protection authorities.
