The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office has fined Heathrow Airport Limited 120,000 GBP for insufficient data security practices. A USB memory stick was lost by a HAL employee and was recovered by a citizen in October 2017. The stick contained a training video that listed 10 individuals’ names, dates of birth, and passport numbers and the information of 50 HAL aviation security personnel. The information was not protected by encryption or a password, and an ICO investigation found only 2 percent of the HAL workforce had training in data security.
