The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office used the holiday spirit to raise awareness about the EU General Data Protection Regulation. While the ICO noted serious progress has been made with regards to the public understanding requirements, it said there is still evidence of people “misunderstanding or misapplying the new legal regime for data protection more than six months on.” Using examples from the holiday season, such as a fear that children will no longer be able to write public letters to Santa without their parents’ permission, the ICO aimed to shed light on GDPR confusion.
