Three years ago, on the IAPP Global Privacy Summit stage, IAPP President and CEO Trevor Hughes, CIPP, announced the organization had eclipsed 10,000 members. Not bad for just over a decade. However, the rate of growth clearly accelerated. The IAPP now has more than 20,000 members, and we’ll likely hit 21,000 before this year’s Summit starts in less than a month. (Hint, hint: Early Bird deadline is today.) With members now in 83 countries around the world, we have become a truly global organization. To emphasize that point, have a look at the story of Noriswadi Ismael, an IAPP member from Malaysia who recently stopped by the IAPP offices and met with Jennifer Saunders, CIPP/US, for a story in The Privacy Advisor. He has a wonderful perspective on privacy’s global nature.
