The International Association of Privacy Professionals announced it has added four new additions to its board of directors for 2019. Adobe Systems Chief Privacy Officer Alisa Bergman, Bird & Bird Partner and Co-Head of International Data Protection Practice Ruth Boardman, Ice Miller Attorney Stephen Reynolds, CIPP/US, and Refinitiv Chief Privacy Officer Vivienne Artz will round out the board this year.

Artz has sat on the IAPP's European Advisory Board and has worked as the managing director and global head of privacy legal and the head of international for the intellectual law property and technology law group at Citi. Bergman had been senior vice president and chief privacy officer for Warner Bros and served as a partner for DLA Piper, Venable and Dentons.

Boardman has also served on the IAPP's European Advisory Board, contributed to online data compliance tool DataGuidance, and is on the editorial board of journal Data Protection Leader. Reynolds is the co-chair of Ice Miller’s data security and privacy practice and a leader of the law firm’s internet-of-things initiative.

"The IAPP will be well served by the depth of leadership and experience joining our board of directors.  We are fortunate to have such committed privacy professionals as we face another dynamic and complex year," IAPP President and CEO J. Trevor Hughes, CIPP, said.

The IAPP has also announced its newly elected executive committee for 2019. LinkedIn Head of Global Privacy Kalinda Raina, CIPP/US, who served as vice chairman in 2018, has been named chairwoman of the 2019 committee. Raina will be joined by Naspers Global Head of Data Privacy Justin Weiss, CIPP/A, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, who will serve as the new vice chairman after his run as treasurer last year.

“The work that each of us does as members of the IAPP to protect the right to privacy only continues to grow in importance. We are fortunate to welcome such an accomplished group of privacy leaders to our board this year to help serve and guide our profession through this time of rapid change and development,” Raina said.

Northtop Grumman Corporation Corporate Privacy Executive John Kropf, CIPP/E, CIPP/G, CIPP/US, will take on the role of secretary, Pfizer Chief Privacy Officer Patrice Ettinger, CIPP/US, will become the new treasurer, and the role of past chairman will be held by Citrix Systems Chief Privacy and Digital Risk Officer Peter Lefkowitz, CIPP/US, who served as chairman of the committee in 2018.
