The Information Accountability Foundation reports on its work creating what it believes is a more Effective Data Protection Governance method when responding to the complexity of information flows, while also meeting the goals of stakeholders. “We believe that, while the ‘tenants’ or ‘objectives’ of data protection remain the same, today’s complex information ecosystems suggest a need to evolve our approach to achieving these objectives,” writes Peter Cullen, CIPP/US. “Data-driven innovation and the organizations that are dependent upon such activities must develop and demonstrate evolved information use governance systems to avoid many of the risks associated with such practices, including policy makers and/or regulatory action.” Cullen details the objective of the project, including enabling an enforcement model providing more capability for regulators and achieving implementable alignments of the EDPG model with existing laws.
