The Interactive Advertising Bureau’s GDPR Transparency & Consent Framework is coming under fire, MarTech Today reports. Trade association Digital Content Next, which represents around 70 publishers in the U.S. and Europe, is voicing their criticisms of the framework. “The IAB GDPR Consent Framework should be considered a non-starter by all publishers as it fails on several levels and requires significant changes,” Digital Content Next CEO Jason Kint wrote in an email to his staff. Kint’s complaints regarding the framework revolve around the potential for data leaks, placing the onus of consent efforts onto publishers while protecting ad tech vendors and “unreliable” cookies.
