AdExchanger reports on the consent challenges faced by users of IAB Europe’s GDPR Transparency and Consent Framework. The report cites the CNIL's warning to Vectaury as a case to watch. Vectaury built its consent management platform with the IAB framework. The CNIL found Vectaury could not produce any consent strings for the 42 million advertising identifiers it gathered through apps. The agency determined even if another entity gathered consent for Vectaury, the company still has to verify the action. “A story like this just reinforces to me the need for legal compliance, but also the degree to which the framework ticks all of those boxes,” IAB Europe CEO Townsend Feehan said. “The conclusion I would draw from the CNIL’s decision is that it’s perfectly comfortable with consent at a legal basis — but you need to be in compliance with the rules.”
