Gawker has been hit with a $100 million lawsuit for publishing an unauthorized sex tape of Hulk Hogan, and the winners and losers of the battle will have profound impact on media relations and the celebrity privacy landscape, Fusion reports. “Right now there’s an ‘anything goes’ mentality” for publishing celebrities’ information, said Santa Clara University High Tech Law Institute’s Co-Director, Eric Goldman, adding, “If Gawker loses, we might begin to see some rethinking of that mentality. If Gawker wins, I think it will further embolden online publishers that anything related to celebrities is fair game.”
